Sign up for PayPal and start accepting credit card payments instantly.

PayPal is one of the more popular online payment options. It's easy to set-up and most visitors to your site will be familiar with the PayPal payment process.  PayPal offers 2 different account levels: Standard and Pro.

PayPal Standard

This option is great to get your chapter started accepting online payments.  It's free to set-up and there is no monthly fee.  You will be charged a per transaction fee, based on your monthly sales.  Transaction fees are:

Total Monthly Sales Per Transaction Fee
$0 - $3000 2.9% + $0.30
$3000+ - $10,000 2.5% + $0.30
$10,000+ 2.2% + $0.30

Since this is PayPal's entry-level option, your website visitors will be taken to the PayPal website to complete their transaction.  Although this isn't completely seamless, it works well and most users are familiar with this process.  This is a great option to get your chapter up and running accepting online payments.

PayPal Pro

This is very similar to the PayPal Standard option, with the benefit of a seamless integration with your website.  Instead of being taken to the PayPal website for checkout completion, your users will be able to stay right on your website to pay.  This also has the benefit of not requiring a merchant account, which many other payment gateways require.  A merchant account is not difficult to set-up but does require some paperwork and time to set-up if you are just starting out.  Pricing for this account is the same as the PayPal Standard account with an additional $30/month fee.
