The PCI standard is administered by PCI Security Standards Council for the credit card industry to help curb credit card fraud. Validation of compliance is performed regularly by an external Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) that creates a Report on Compliance (ROC) for organizations handling ecommerce transactions. Why isn’t this handled by StarChapter? PCI standards relate to every part of the payment process. All StarChapter systems are compliant from a technology standpoint; however, PCI compliance is also required of the Merchant, which would be the organization holding the financial account. While this can be a complicated process for volunteers who aren’t as familiar with these standards, StarPay has partnered with SecurityMetrics to make the process as easy as possible. What’s new? As of 4/1/2025, qualifying Merchants must have a third-party Shopping Cart Monitor on all public-facing payment pages. To make this process easy and as seamless as possible, we have worked with SecurityMetrics to include the basic version of their shopping cart monitor with your existing plan. This is included in your StarPay service and will include scans of up to 4 payment pages on your StarChapter website. Additional payment pages will be at a cost of $2/page. What do I need to do? Login to the SecurityMetrics account associated with your StarPay service. You would have received an email prompting you to setup this account within 7 days of initiating payment processing. If you have not already completed the PCI Self-Assessment and Scan, do so now. Locate the Shopping Cart Monitor tool in your account. This was activated on 3/26/25 for all StarPay customers. Enter the URLs for all public payment pages on your StarChapter system. What happens if I don’t take these next steps? PCI Standards require that a non-compliance fee be assessed for all non-compliant vendors or merchants. If your organization is not noted as Compliant within SecurityMetrics within 60 days of account activation, a $29.95/month non-compliance fee will be assessed. A grace period has been granted for Shopping Cart Monitor-related compliance until 7/1/2025. How do I find my payment pages? Since you can customize your StarChapter website, we cannot provide a full list of the payment pages on your StarChapter website. The following 3 pages will be part of most StarChapter systems and should be listed if in use by your organization. Before providing these URLs to SecurityMetrics, add your organization’s domain name prior to the initial /. For instance, if my organization’s website is at xyzchapter.org, I would provide xyzchapter.org/meet-reg5.php as one of my payment pages. /meet-reg5.php – All StarChapter customers have a meeting registration payment page. /catalog.php – StarChapter systems on the Lite or Starter plans will not have this payment page. /memberdues3.php – StarChapter systems with local dues setup in Membership > Dues Manager should include this payment page.
