Understanding StarChapter's tools—and aligning them with your chapter’s policies—can help reduce confusion and improve retention. This guide focuses on the transition from Expired to Former members, especially around renewal permissions. Configure Set your Member Expiry Settings to automate when members are removed. The Grace Period controls how long Expired Members can still renew. For example, a 90-day grace period allows renewals up to 90 days after expiration. In most cases, set Expired members login permissions to “Login to Dues Payment Screen Only.” This directs Expired Members to renew immediately and avoids accidental use of member benefits after expiration. Once the grace period ends, members move to the Non-Member Manager. Leaving them in the roster too long can block rejoining and cause confusion with emails. Communicate Set up automated renewal emails to go out regularly, starting 90 days before expiration. This keeps the process simple and ensures members get multiple reminders. You can also message Former Members directly using the dedicated group in the Non-Member Manager. Share rejoining instructions and encourage them to return via your chapter’s application form. With the right setup and occasional review, StarChapter can streamline membership management.
