SSL 3.0 Vulnerability, Known as “POODLE"
Updated: Aug. 31, 2017
On Tuesday, October 14, 2014, Google’s security team released their findings that version 3 of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL 3.0) is vulnerable. This vulnerability has been nicknamed POODLE. POODLE is only an issue with the outdated Version 3, which has been superseded by more modern protocols. Web browsers will work from the most current protocol backwards.
Users can protect themselves from this vulnerability by updating their settings as described on this site: https://zmap.io/sslv3/browsers.html
To add protection for users who are unaware or whose settings or browsers are not updated, we will be disabling SSL3 on our service in the weeks to come as other Internet services follow suit. We will keep you posted with updates to the StarChapter blog at http://www.starchapter.com/blog in the weeks to come.
