Are chapters considering keeping virtual as part of their programming as we transition back to the "new normal"?

CNFBTA cancelled our April educational forum. Our next is scheduled for late June. We are considering partnering with another chapter and delivering it virtually.

One of the potential outcomes is that it's easier to do joint meetings with others. Any APICS chapters that want to combine for joint meetings?

We host quarterly regional meetings across NY State and are doing them virtually. We are also organizing our biggest conference that was to happen in April for four days - breaking it down into webinars and recordings. We are also considering a "season pass" to offer bundled events at a discount even off the member price"

Greetings from Chicago where we have been sheltering-in-place nonessential people since mid-March. We cancelled our ASIS Chicago Chapter meeting in March. Now in April we are going to try and do a virtual meeting with our members via Zoom. I am here to learn about what features Star Chapter has for such events as we use them currently to register for our in-person meetings.

Weighing the difference between online video training and virtual online sessions. We do both hard skills and soft skills training.

Our classes were a mix of face-to-face and online. We simply switched to completely online. Different skillset though, so trying to adjust and improve.

I realize there's a lot to pack in today, but starting a nationwide event at 8am ET/5am PT isn't very considerate for us westerners. At least I'm not in Hawaii, but still in definite need of coffee. Something to keep in mind for planning virtual events.

I agree with Forrest's comment. The webinar didn't even start at 8 am EST (which is 7 am EST). Nothing happened until about 7:30 am as I couldn't see or hear anything. And to see that the speaker starts at 9 am EST which is 8 am is a huge difference.

Thanks for the feedback. I can certainly appreciate that. One consideration we did make in regards to that is with all of the sessions that have the recordings, they will be available.

We are moving our conference at the end of this month to virtual and start sessions at 11 ET. Still kind of early for those out west but we thought it was a good middle ground.

In thinking about a virtual meeting for our chapter; we currently do not have much engagement from our membership on social media platforms. Even though we are mostly all working from home now; what are ways to encourage virtual engagement in a population that hasn't been very active before.

We use Linkedin and scheduled FB posts every day. We also send a daily email during this COVID challenge with links to our website. We also use Twitter

The current situation is an opportunity to build social media engagement. Much of our membership is older and while they are generally moderately tech savvy, we are concerned about how well they will embrace virtual events. This is uncharted water for everybody, but seems like it is the impetus to do something we have discussed for some years. Virtual events would be a great way to elicit participation from far-flung members who are reluctant to travel in normal times.

We have cancelled all meetings as well. Our board meetings are teleconference so they continue as do our committee meetings using Zoom or Free Conference Calling (which is getting overcrowded). I have written an article, with links to the various technologies, encouraging our members to rekindle their various social groups through Facebook, Zoom, Conference calls, etc. Much of this can be done for free. What people shut in miss most is conversation with friends of like interests. That can be done through the various free platforms.

We've turned our April Professional Development Meeting into a virtual meeting. Pushed the date out to give us time and we're making the attempt to have a remote meeting. June training converted to virtual as well. Cancelled other events, looking for virtual opportunities to replace.

After considerable debate by the board, we cancelled our 2-1/2 day event in mid June. We considered going virtual or expanding our fall seminar. In the end, even if the stay-home directive is lifted in May, we felt like to many people would be reluctant to travel and timeframe would be to short to push registration before facility's kill date.
